Everyone is starting to discount that Greece will have concluded the programme review in the summer 2018 and will tap the markets, Deputy Economy and Development Minister Stergios Pitsiorlas on Tuesday said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM.
There is great investment interest, he said, as reforms have made significant progress. Pitsiorlas explained that important investments in tourism, industry, health, energy and transport were carried out in 2017.
“The investment in former Helliniko airport will be the largest urban redevelopment project across Europe. According to the schedule, the project will start in 2018,” he said.
Pitsiorlas made clear that elections will be held in 2019 as the country needs political stability. “There is no reason to have early elections as reforms must continue, important investments must be carried out and the country will exit the memoranda. Greece’s return to the markets is rather significant,” he stressed.
