Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Amanatidis on Wednesday in statements to the Athens Macedonian News Agency’s radio Praktoreio 104.9 FM praised the contribution of the Patriarchate and the National Technical University in the completion of the restoration of the Holy Sepulcher.
Amanatidis is accompanying Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Jerusalem.
“It’s a historic moment. It is a symbol of hope in a period of challenges,” he said. Amanatidis stressed that the government’s interest in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem is strong, something that is also proved by the presence of the prime minister. He also described the restoration of the cabinet of the Holy Sepulcher as a historic landmark for all mankind.
Asked about the situation in the Middle East, he stressed the need for all the forces to work and to solve the problems through dialogue . Moreover, he underlined that the Middle East has always been a multicultural mosaic.
