Deutsche Bundesbank’s Weidmann attends Greek bankers working luncheon in Athens

Deutsche Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann attended a working luncheon in Athens on Thursday scheduled in his honor by the Hellenic Bank Association (HBA) board of directors.

An HBA statement said the issues discussed between Greek bankers and Germany’s federal central bank chief included the improvement of the macroeconomic conditions in Greece and the country’s growth prospects after completing the last adjustment program. It also focused on initiatives to reduce the non-performing exposures (NPEs) of systemic banks.

The luncheon was attended by HBA Chairman Nikolaos Karamouzis, Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras, and CEOs of the association’s member banks, among others.
