Digital Policy Min Pappas meets with EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel

Granting citizens access to digital services was “a matter of democracy and justice,” Digital Policy, Communications and Media Minister Nikos Pappas stated during a meeting on Thursday with European Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel, held at the ministry in Athens.

Pappas was speaking after the signing of an agreement at the ministry that launched a digital signatures project for public administration. The agreement, signed by Secretary General for Digital Policy Stelios Rallis and OTE President and CEO Michael Tsamaz, concerns the implementation of a “digital system for managing documents and work flow, incorporating remote digital signatures”.

Pappas briefed the Commissioner on all the ministry’s current plans, including a registry of online media and the digital modernisation of its structures in general.
