Dr George Nounesis appointed director of national center for scientific research “Demokritos”

Dr George Nounesis was appointed director and chairman of the board of the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”.

Professor Nounesis was born on Corfu in 1959 and studied Physics at the Athens Kapodistrian University and got his Ph.D in Physics at the School of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Minnesota in 1987. After three years of post-doctoral research in the Chemistry dept of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) he worked as researcher at the Francis Bitter National Magnet Laboratory of MIT.

Since 2002 Nounesis is director of research at Biomolecular Physics Laboratory of National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”.

His research mostly focuses in biomolecular physics and particularly in hybrid nanomaterials.
