Draft legislation for 120-installment debt settlement to be voted by April 23

The labour ministry’s draft legislation for 120-installment debt settlement schemes will be voted on in the Parliament plenary by April 23, Parliament President Nikos Voutsis said on Thursday.

In a discussion with reporters covering parliament, Voutsis said that other draft legislation scheduled to be voted on in the coming week and up until April 23 includes that on coastal areas, the Asian Bank and the Development Bank (currently being discussed in parliamentary committees), an education ministry bill and a national defence ministry bill on the length of mandatory military service.

Voutsis also announced that a parliamentary report on claiming German war reparations is due to be submitted for discussion in the plenary next Wednesday, while on Friday parliament is to vote on the lifting of parliamentary immunity for the MPs Andreas Loverdos (for the Novartis case), Marios Salmas (arthroscopy case), Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis (on a charge of slander filed by the MP Adonis Georgiadis) and Independent Greeks (ANEL) party leader Panos Kammenos (also for slander, based on a suit filed by the journalist Yiannis Kourtakis).
