Econ. Policy Council approves plans for managing mineral resources, supervising market activities

The Government Council for Economic Policy on Thursday approved an environment ministry plan for the integrated and sustainable management of Greece’s mineral raw materials, as well as a joint proposal by the economy and tourism ministries for an action plan relating to the legislative framework for supervising economic activity and the market.

The council meeting was chaired by government Vice-president Yiannis Dragasakis.

According to an announcement issued after the meeting, the “aim of the strategic plan [on mineral resources] is to double the mining sector’s contribution to GDP in conditions that ensure environmental protection and social cohesion, while maximising added value on a domestic level…”
