Economy Min Papadimitriou: Greek economy presents unprecedented stability

“All figures indicate that the Greek economy has acquired an unprecedented stability that it did not have in the previous 10 years,” Economy Minister Dimitris Papadimitriou said in an interview with Ethnos newspaper on Monday, on the occasion of his participation in a panel in the Delphi Forum to discuss the conditions for sustainable economic growth and the structural reforms that will increase the economy’s competitiveness.

“The year 2017 was the first in which the Greek economy presented growth in four quarters while, in parallel, we came close to 4.0 billion euros in direct foreign investments… In 2017, private investments reached 9.9 billion euros, the highest level in the last six years”, he noted.

Asked if this was likely to continue in 2018, Papadimitriou replied: “Not just continue but intensify; A series of major investments in industry and tourism have been announced in 2018 while equally great interest has been expressed in portfolio investments.”
