Employment balance positive in 2017, labour ministry reports

The Greek labour market recorded the highest performance since 2001 in 2017 with 143,535 new job positions, according to the balance of employment flows in 2017 recorded by the “ERGANI” IT system, according to a labour ministry report released on Monday.

In December, wage employment in the private sector recorded a positive balance of hirings/dismissals with 15,315 job positions, as new hirings totaled 172,064 and dismissals amounted to 156,749.

New hirings totaled 2,400,398 throughout 2017, with dismissals amounting to 2,256,853, leaving a positive balance of 143,535 new job positions in the year.
