End of rescue programmes underlines the vigor of Greek people, ESM sec gen says

“The end of the rescue programmes for Greece underlines the vigor of the Greek people, something that we often forget about abroad,” secretary-general of the European Stability Mechanism, Kalin Anev Janse, said on Tuesday.

He also underlined that the fact that the country managed to exit rescue programmes after eight years is a “great success.”

“The fact that Greece maaged to exit the rescue programmes after eight years constitutes a great success. This also proves the vigor of the Greek people, something that we often forget about abroad. The fact that the crisis was overcome was certainly a great success for the eurozone,” Janse stressed to German newspaper ‘Boersen – Zeitung.’

ESM and EFSF helped five countries, all of whom are now standing on their own feet. Four countries are clear examples of economic success and Greece can enter this club as long as it continues the reforms.
