The European Union and China welcomed the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year in Venice on January 19, launching a programme that extends cooperation between China and the EU and explores new initiatives to increase the flow of tourists to both destinations.

The EU-China Tourism Year programme is funded by the European Commission and is run by leading European travel agencies, such as the European Travel Agency (ETC), the organiSation called “Welcome Chinese” and the European Tourism Association (ETOA).

It is designed to enhance business networking and contacts between major European and Chinese tourism businesses. It will include a discussion on practical initiatives to promote lesser-known destinations in China and the European Union, for upgrading the travel experience, facilitating the issuance of visas and improving air transport.
