EU Commission President Juncker to visit Athens on Monday

European Commission president-elect Jean-Claude Juncker on Monday will visit Athens, in his first official visit to an EU member-state in his new capacity.
In his message ahead of his visit, Juncker called Prime Minister Antonis Samaras a “friend and colleague” and said he would present his Presidency’s priorities on jobs, growth and investment. He also sent a message of hope and optimism by recognizing the efforts of the Greek people and the Greek government.
Juncker will meet Samaras on Monday, August 4, at 12.00 at Maximos Mansion. After the end of the meeting, the two officials will make joint statements to the press while the Greek premier will host a luncheon in honor of Juncker, which will also be attended by Greece’s new EU Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos.
