European Commission: Interior Ministers need to boost the refugees relocation procedure from Greece and Italy

European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos sent a letter last week to EU Interior Ministers on the need to boost the refugees relocation procedure from Greece and Italy, according to European Commission representative Natasha Bertaud.

Asked on European Commission’s intention regarding the member states that have not yet received any refugees of those selected for relocation, she said that despite the fact that some countries have not met their commitments, the programme proceeds and until its completion the transfer of all the selected refugees from Greece and Italy is feasible. “If this does not happen, then the Commission will examine the possibility of additional measures”, she said.
