“We hope and await from the Turkish president to also surprise us positively in the future,” said New Democracy Eurodeputy MP Manolis Kefalogiannis in his statement to the joint EU-Turkey parliamentary committee after the release of the American pastor Andrew Brunson.
“Today’s release and return home of the American pastor Andrew Brunson from the Turkish jails is of course a second positive sample of Turkey’s political leadership,” he added, referring to the recent release of the two Greek soldiers.
“We insist on our fixed position that we desire a democratic and European Turkey that will be a factor of security and stability in the south eastern Mediterranean region,” he added.
