Europe before crucial dilemmas; Greece keeps clear stance, Charitsis says

Cohesion policy is perhaps the only counterweight to the dissolving trends in the EU created by neo-liberal policies and the rise of the nationalist right-wing, Alternate Economy and Development Minister Alexis Charitsis said on Monday in a statement to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

He underlined that the Greek government has taken a clear position in this great conflict that will judge the future of the European Union.

Greece, he said, seeks an increase in EU budget funds as well as independent funding sources. But most of all, it is struggling to strengthen the Cohesion policy, which is the main tool currently available to the Union to combat poverty and unemployment at European level.
