European Central Bank lowers ELA borrowing ceiling for Greek banks

The Governing Council of European Central Bank, in a meeting on Wednesday, did not object to an ELA-ceiling for Greek banks of 33.6 billion euros, up to and including Wednesday, 4 October 2017, following a request by the Bank of Greece.

The Greek central bank, in an announcement released on Thursday, said that the reduction of 0.3 billion euros in the ceiling reflects an improvement of the liquidity situation of Greek banks, taking into account private sector deposits flows.
