Eurozone discusses Greek debt relief in preparation of Eurogroup on June 21

The first session of the Eurogroup meeting in Brussels ended on Thursday, following a discussion on the Greek economy.

According to a Finance Ministry source, the finance ministers of the Eurozone hailed last Saturday’s technical staff agreement in Athens between Greece and the institutions. In terms of debt relief for Greece, the source said, both Germany and the International Monetary Fund appeared to agree on introducing debt relief measures and agreed to continue talks in order to pave the way for a resolution at the Eurogroup on June 21.

Finance ministers are currently discussing with other non-Eurozone members preparations for the Summit in June, where measures to further strengthen the Eurozone will be decided.
