Exit from adjustment program offers Greece more freedom, says Haritsis

Greece’s exit from its adjustment program will allow for a greater degree of freedom, Alternate Finance Minister Alexis Charitsis said at a SYRIZA meeting in Kalamata.

To that end, the government is preparing its own program for the period after the third bailout expires which will focus on tackling inequalities, strengthening the social state, improving people’s daily lives and promoting sustainable development, he said.

The minister said this effort is not easy and the result is not predetermined, noting that the real dilemma is whether the country will forge ahead with reforms or return to the policies that resulted in the unprecedented crisis.
