Exit from crisis is possible with a progressive agenda, says FinMin Tsakalotos

It is possible for a country to exit the economic crisis by following a progressive agenda, Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos said on Wednesday in an interview with Portuguese news agency Lusa.

Tsakalotos was commenting on S&P Global Ratings’ decision to raise Portugal’s credit rating to investment grade. He said it was “very good news” that the country’s bonds are no longer rated as “junk” status bonds, noting that what is optimistic, not only for Portugal but also for the rest of Europe, is that there can be such a success, even when a progressive agenda is followed.

He said the Greek economy is recovering and that there is political will on the government’s side and the Eurogroup to lead Greece out of the adjustment program without the support of another program.
