A 24-year-old German man, one of a group of FC Schalke fans in Thessaloniki for a UEFA Europa League match with local team PAOK, was tracked down and arrested by Greek police on Thursday. The arrest was made in connection with an attack at a cafe on the city’s waterfront that resulted in damages but no injuries.

A group of Schalke fans were gathered in the square around Thessaloniki’s landmark White Tower on Thursday evening, ahead of the match with PAOK in the Toumba stadium. Police are currently conducting a body search on the German fans before they board coaches for the stadium.
