Finance ministry calls on SYRIZA to read the reports before criticising

The government is taking measures amounting to 24 billion euros to support the economy in 2020. These include the measures announced as well as measures to be announced in the near future for the next phase of the economic restructuring, by utilising additional resources from European funds, the finance ministry said on Friday in response to main opposition SYRIZA’s criticism.

The ministry called on SYRIZA, in order to avoid embarrassment, to first read the reports that it cites, in this case the report of the European Institutions (May 2020). The finance ministry also called on SYRIZA to explain “after a 45-day silence” how the amounts of “frontloaded” spending it proposes can be financed without the country resorting to a new memorandum.
