Finance ministry rejects reports EWG blocked disbursement of sub-trance

The finance ministry rejected on Tuesday as “unsubstantiated” press reports that the EuroWorking Group (EWG) discussed and decided against the disbursement of the remaining sub-tranche to Greece in its last meeting, which totals 800 million euros and would have been used by the government to pay its debts towards the private sector.

According to the ministry, for the sub-tranche to be disbursed, the state will have to clear arrears of 1.2 billion by the end of September 2017. Greece will submit this information and the institutions will review it in October. Therefore, the sub-tranche was not accepted to be approved now, but before the end of October.
