Fines for Hellenic Shipyards discussed by Dep. Economy Minister Pitsiorlas in Brussels

The shipyards in Skaramangas were the focus of a meeting between Deputy Economy and Development Minister Stergios Pitsiorlas and the Deputy Director-General for State Aid Gert-Jan Koopman, at the European Commission’s Competition Directorate, in Brussels on Wednesday.

They discussed the latest developments concerning the case filed by the European Commission against the Greek state, which asks for a fine to be imposed on Greece’s for its failure to comply with a July 2, 2008 decision for the recovery of state subsidies to Hellenic Shipyards SA. The meeting focused on alternative scenarios for dealing with the issue that has arisen.
