Fire on “Eleftherios Venizelos” passenger ferry extinguished

The fire that had been burning on the “Eleftherios Venizelos” passenger ferry for the last four days has been extinguished, authorities said.

The fire broke out on Tuesday night after the ship set sail from Piraeus, possibly due to a short-circuit in one of the vehicles on board. All passengers were evacuated to safety without injury.

Authorities are continuing with an investigation into the causes of the fire.
