Foreign investors raised their participation in the capitalisation of the Athens Stock Exchange in September to 59.5 pct (excluding the participation of Hellenic Financial Stability Fund, their share rose to 61.8 pct from 61.1 pct in August). Foreign investors’ share was 52.4 pct in September 2015 (56.3 pct excluding HFSF).
Greek investors held 40.4 pct of the market’s capitalisation in September. Foreign investors were net sellers worth 34.85 million euros, while Greek investors were net buyers with capital inflows of 34.86 million euros.
Foreign investors accounted for 62.3 pct of market transactions in September, up from 57.2 pct in August and 53.2 pct in September 2015. The value of transactions totaled 825.86 million in September, down 2.5 pct from August (847 million) but up 24.6 pct from 662.97 million euros in September last year. Average daily turnover was 37.54 million euros, from 38.5 million in August but up from 30.13 million euros in September 2015. The number of active investor codes rose to 12,844 in September from 10,078 in August, and 17,074 in September 2015. The market’s capitalisation was 34.38 billion euros at the end of September, down from 35.75 billion a month earlier (-3.8 pct) but up 11.6 pct from September last year (30.81 billion euros).
