Foreign investors slightly cut their participation in the capitalization of the Greek stock exchange in August to 62.3 pct (including the participation of Hellenic Financial Stability Fund) from 62.4 pct in July. Excluding the participation of HSFS, their participation eased to 65.5 pct from 65.7 pct, respectively.
Greek investors held 37.7 pct of the market’s capitalization at the end of August. Foreign investors were net buyers with capital inflows of 4.49 pct. Foreign investors accounted for 60.2 pct of market transactions (up from 55.2 pct in July and 57.2 pct in August 2016. The value of transactions reached 900.90 million euros in August, down 45.3 pct from July, but up 6.4 pct from August last year. Average daily turnover was 40.95 million euros, down from 78.45 million in July but up from 38.5 million in August 2016. The number of active investor codes eased to 13,742 in August, from 21,612 in July and 10,078 in August 2016.
The market’s capitalization was 44.29 billion euros at the end of August, up from 44.11 billion in July and up 23.9 pct from 35.75 billion euros in August last year.
