Foreign ministry slams ‘organized attack’ over alleged pushbacks of refugees

The Greek foreign ministry slammed media reports claiming the ministry was involved in alleged pushbacks of refugees and issues of border protection, saying they are part of an “organized and immoral attack”.

“The ministry and the Minister of Foreign Affairs personally has become the target of an organized and immoral attack by those who are well aware that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no competence and practical involvement in matters of protection, security and border guarding,” a ministry spokesman said, responding to a journalist’s question.

“It is obvious that this effort is attempted by the known circles who aim at weakening Greek positions ahead of a series of imminent international negotiations,” he added.
