Three foreign nationals were arrested at the airports of Heraklion and Chania on Crete when they attempted to travel abroad with fake travel documents, police said on Monday.
A Syrian and an Afghan national, both aged 25, were arrested at Heraklion airport when they presented fake Pakistani and French documents, respectively, in order to board a flight to Germany.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old Syrian national was also arrested at Chania airport when he showed a fake Bulgarian travel document in order to fly to Italy.
The fake documents were confiscated and the suspects were sent before a public prosecutor. A total of 43 individuals have been arrested since February at airports in Crete for possession of fake travel documents.
