Four individuals indicted for involvement in attack on Thessaloniki mayor

Four individuals allegedly involved in an assault on Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris will face charges and appear in court, Greek authorities announced on Monday. Three will be tried before a Thessaloniki police court and a 17-year-old allegedly involved in the same incident will go before a juvenile court.

The minor, two 20-year-olds and a 36-year-old appeared before a public prosecutor earlier on Monday, who pressed charges against them for inflicting grievous bodily harm, disturbing the peace and causing damages.

The mayor of Thessaloniki was attacked on Saturday when he tried to attend events commemorating the Pontian genocide in Thessaloniki.
