G. Koumoutsakos: Νew Democracy continuously supports the establishment and operation of the NCRTV

The main opposition said it supports the setting up and operation of the new board for Greece’s TV regulator provided the government transfers all powers back to the independent body, New Democracy spokesman Giorgos Koumoiutsakos said on Thursday.

“New Democracy continuously supports the establishment and operation of the NCRTV with full powers as envisioned by the Constitution,” Koumoutsakos said, adding it’s imperative that the government finalizes the legal framework for the regulation of the television landscape, replacing the law submitted by State Minister Nikos Pappas which was deemed unconstitutional by the Council of State on Thursday night.

“To ensure, that is, that all the powers for the licensing and the supervision of the TV channels are transferred back to NCRTV,” he said and added that once this is done, then the parliament’s Conference of Presidents can convene.
