Gennimata: Gov’t too slow in containing pandemic’s spread

The coronavirus pandemic is spreading dangerously, and the government has lost control and time by acting too late, Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata charged on Thursday.

Gennimata said that she had asked Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis “to act immediately and support the National Health System, and to decongest mass transport and schools.” Insteady, she charged, his interventions are hindsight ones, and “restrictive measures alone, which carry a social and economic toll.”

Referring to Mitsotakis’ plans to announce new measures on Friday to stem the pandemic’s spread, KINAL’s leader noted that the new plan “should provide substantial financial support for workers, the unemployed and farmers, and a guarantee of liquidity to help businesses survive, prioritizing small and medium-sized ones.”
