Gennimata: Oruc Reis must not cross the 12-mile mark, Mitsotakis must give this order

Opposition Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata expressed her concern on Wednesday, in an interview with public broadcaster ERT, over the fact that Turkey’s constant and escalating provocation was not on the agenda of the European Council meeting on Thursday. Gennimata was commenting on the most recent episode involving the Turkish seismic survey vessel “Oruc Reis” and its activities within the Greek continental shelf and a recent Turkish Navtex in an area that included Greek waters.

Gennimata said that a veto was the only solution for Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as there was no other way out. “Since he chose not to convene a council of the political leaders and to handle the issue on his own, he must now convince the Europeans that Greece is no longer joking,” she stressed.

In addition, she underlined that “there is a bright red line: the Oruc Reis must not cross the 12-mile mark. Mitsotakis must give this order to the leaders of the Armed Forces and they know what they must do.”
