Georgiadis: At least 5.5 million vaccinations needed for ‘wall of immunity’ in Greece

Αt least 5.5 million vaccinations have to be completed in Greece in order to build a strong wall of immunity, stated Development and Investment Minister Adonis Georgiadis to Thema radio on Monday. He also expressed his disappointment that only 60 pct of those over 80 years old have been vaccinated .

He predicted that thing will get better from Tuesday as the platform for younger age groups opens up and the flow of vaccines increases.

Georgiadis also said that airline companies, such as DELTA, are going to introduce to additional flights to Greece, something that proves that there is a high demand for tourism. May will be a month of normality, he added, while noting that a condition for this will be for the vaccinations to be carried out.

According to the minister, it was essential to emphasise at every opportunity that getting vaccinated is essential, not only for people’s lives but also for the economy.

The minister also commented on the AstraZeneca vaccine, saying that people should not fear its side-effects as the chances of experiencing these bad side-effects were one in a million. Finally, he explained that all medicines have side effects but when we still take them when they are necessary to protect our health.
