German FinMin spox declines comment on Regling statement, cites upcoming Eurogroup

Asked to comment on a statement by the head of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) Klaus Regling, who said that part of the money from the current Greek programme that is not disbursed to Greece can be used for debt repayment, the German finance ministry spokesman declined to comment, noting that these issues would be decided at the Eurogroup.

“The third programme review is underway in Greece and the institutions will brief the next Eurogroup on December 4. The priority right now is a successful conclusion of the programme review and I do not want to pre-empt the Eurogroup meeting,” the spokesman said.
