German police break up human trafficking ring involving refugees, with the help of Greek polic

German police raided four homes in Germany in a sweep to break up a human trafficking ring, with the assistance of the Greek police.

As reported by German magazine Focus, the traffickers appeared to have been supplying Syrian refugees with fake documents from 2015 to 2017, and to have arranged for them to fly out of Athens and Thessaloniki to Germany.

One of the suspects had applied for asylum in Germany in 2015, then returned to Athens and helped organize the trafficking of refugees, the magazine said.
