Gerovasili categorically refuses municipalities’ request to take over Citizen Service Centres

Administrative Reconstruction Minister Olga Gerovasili on Monday categorically ruled out the transfer of Citizen Service Centres and their staff to municipalities, replying to a request by the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece.

In a letter to the union’s board, Gerovasili noted that the scrapping of the laws on which the foundation of the CSCs was based, as requested by municipalities, would essentially lead to their abolition as a service.

She underlined that this was “not acceptable” and said that the ministry’s goal is for CSCs to pass from a mediation service assisting in the submission of applications to state services to a service providing “added-value administrative products” for individual citizens and businesses.
