Greek government prepares higher subsidy for electricity bills

Newinformation wants the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas to have suggested the allocation of a higher amount for domestic and professional consumption up to 300 kWh per month.

This proposal is being considered positively by the competent Ministry of Finance after the rise of international energy prices. A rally that also involved the clearing price of yesterday’s transactions on the Greek Energy Exchange. It skyrocketed to over 204 euros per MWh, freezing the entire electricity market.

The new scenario studied by the government shows the subsidy at 0.04 to 0.045 euros per kilowatt hour, when the previous plan was at 0.03 euros per kilowatt hour. In this way, a household will be subsidized with 12 or 13.5 euros (depending on the final decision) for the first 300 kilowatt hours that it will consume each month.

The subsidy will cover consumption in September, October, November and December.
