Government sources shot down press reports on Monday claiming Migration Policy Minister Yannis Mouzalas is resigning after he was allegedly criticized during a meeting of SYRIZA’s political secretariat on his handling of migration.
Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA), the sources said: “There’s no question of Migration Policy Minister Yannis Mouzalas resigning.”
Commenting later on the same issue, the ministry of migration said: “As part of SYRIZA’s intra-party democratic operation, different views were presented. Before the meeting completed, the minister left to participate in a scheduled meeting with the Vice President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans.”
