Government’s econ team in last-minute meeting with creditors to prepare for Eurogroup

A last-minute, emergency meeting between the Greek government’s economic team and representatives of the creditors was underway in Brussels on Monday afternoon, ahead of a Eurogroup meeting later the same day, government sources said.

Among those taking part were Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem, EuroWorking Group head Thomas Wieser, Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Greece’s Alternate Finance Minister George Chouliarakis.

The European Commission was represented by European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici and DG Economic and Financial Affairs Director General Marco Buti, as well as the head of the
Commission’s Athens mission Declan Costello. Representing the IMF was the head of its Europe department Poul Thomsen and Athens mission chief Delia Velculescu, while the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) was represented by ESM Managing Director Klaus Regling and the European Central Bank (ECB) by Executive Board Member Benoit Coeure.
