Gov’t plans incentives for electric taxis and corporate cars

The government’s plan for electricity-powered vehicles includes incentives for taxis and corporate cars, Secretary General for Energy & Mineral Resources at the Environment and Energy Ministry Alexandra Sdoukou said at the “Connected Cars 2019” conference.

Moreover, many of the new buses to be added to the Athens and Thessaloniki urban fleet will run on electricity, as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has already announced.

Sdoukou said that the penetration of electric vehicles in the Greek market has not exceeded 0.23 pct. In addition, the National Policy Framework for the development of the alternative fuels market, developed in 2017, foresees 15,000 passenger electric vehicles in 2030, while the National Energy and Climate Plan (EESC) drafted by the previous government in 2018 set a target of 10 percent of all passenger cars to run on electricity by 2030.
