“The co-existence of political disagreement with the choice of violence do not provide good services to democracy,” government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Monday in a written statement, adding that condemnation of the terrorist attack on the offices of SKAI TV and “Kathimerini” newspaper were self-evident and unequivocal.
“Such actions have the opposite effect to what they aim for. They strengthen the front of democracy and the reflexes of the citizens against intimidation and disorientation,” Tzanakopoulos said.
He noted that “the government, from the very beginning, was at the side of the employees of the station and the newspaper, while the prime minister stressed that this attack was an attack on democracy.”
“The authorities are investigating the case in order to locate the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The government’s decisive stance, the support of the employees and the unambiguous condemnation of the terrorist action will not be influenced by any attempt to connect it with political confrontation”.
