It was “very good to meet Nikos Kotzias. Greece is a key partner in the enlargement (and in the) neighbourhood countries. (We) share a strong interest in spreading stability and boosting reforms, especially in the Western Balkans,” Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, posted on Twitter on Friday.
Kotzias also tweeted photographs of his welcome to Hahn at the Greek foreign ministry in Athens on Friday, for a meeting that is currently underway.
In an earlier tweet, Hahn said it was “good to be back in Athens” for talks with Kotzias and main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis “and other leaders.” He will also speak at the ELIAMEP institute on the path of the Western Balkans to joining the EU, where he noted that Greece was a “key partner in this strategic project.”
