Greece and China signed an action plan for 2018-2020 for scientific and technological collaboration in Athens on Tuesday.

Signing on behalf of the two countries were Alternate Research and Innovation Minister Costas Fotakis and Chinese Deputy Science and Technology Minister Li Meng.

A meeting of delegations focused on developments in the fields in both countries, confirming the great response generated by scientists and business owners in Greece and China in the action plan signed early in 2018 by the Secretariat General of Research and Technology (Declaration of Action of Greece-China Bilateral and Multilateral Collaboration).

According to the information provided, the total public expenditure reached 10 million euros, with 179 proposals submitted by 203 businesses and 261 research institutions in Greece. Proposals refer to the environment, energy, farming, information and telecoms technology, and maintenance and protection of cultural monuments.

The delegations also discussed the prospect of another bilateral declaration for 2019-2020 to promote collaboration among academic and research institutions, technology parks, innovation incubators and industrial clusters.

On May 19 (Saturday), the Chinese delegation under Li Meng paid a visit to Crete’s Foundation for Research and Technology. It’s the second such visit to the foundation by a Chinese delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Energy and Technology.
