Greece has repeatedly expressed its concern about the plight of people in Yemen, and actively participates in the provision of humanitarian aid, said Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias at the Virtual High-Level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Situation in Yemen, held Monday.
Greece is closely following developments in Yemen over the past 6 years, as conflicts in the country are raging, he added. The lack of food and basic goods there worsened the situation in 2020, and if not dealt with immediately will render the situation irreversible, he noted.
Dendias referred to the humanitarian aid distributed to Yemen via the European Union and the continuous efforts of European partners to normalize the situation in the country.
The situation in Yemen is undermining regional stability in a particularly sensitive area, he pointed out, while the rocket attacks violate International Law and are absolutely reprehensible.
Finally, he maintained that Greece firmly supports the need for a comprehensive, political solution.
