Greece needs to focus more on continuation of reforms, SEV report says

Greece needs to focus more on the continuation of reforms and ensuring a stable investment-friendly environment, the Federation of Hellenic Enterprises (SEV) said in a monthly report released on Monday.

SEV noted that current developments create an image of weak recovery in an international environment of increasing uncertainty, related with the Brexit agreement and clash between Italy and the EU on the Italian budget.

“Producing super-surpluses through over-taxation to offer funds to consumption, particularly in a pre-election period, is a cause of concern for markets and the business community over the fairness of economic policy,” SEV said, adding: “Beyond market turbulence, with bond and share prices at very low levels, the situation is negatively affecting business confidence, with the economic sentiment index decreasing and consumer confidence rising”.
