Greece registers 1,152 new coronavirus cases, 7 deaths; 153 in ICUs

Greece confirmed 1,152 new coronavirus cases on Monday, of which 96 are linked to known clusters of infection and 33 were identified at entry points to the country, said the National Public Health Organization (EODY).

All cases in Greece total 42,080, of which 4,176 relate to travel from abroad and 13,821 to already confirmed infection cases.

A total of 153 individuals are intubated. Their median age is 66 years, 90.8 pct have an underlying condition or are aged 70 or more and 35 of them are women. Another 294 have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic.

EODY also registered 7 new deaths, bringing coronavirus fatalities to 642 in total. Of the latter, their median age was 79 years, 96.3 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or above, and 248 were women.

Number of ICU beds

The Health Ministry released details on the number of ICU beds available to Covid-19 patients on Monday. There are currently some 312 ICU beds nationwide for Covid-19, of which 188 are occupied and 124 are available. There are 85 such ICU beds in Thessaloniki, of which 57 are occupied and 28 are available.
