More and more people use TripAdvisor to book their vacations to Greece, according to Anna Rufo, head of display sales in TripAdvisor.
Rufo was speaking at a two-day conference “Digi.travel” organised by Travel Media Applications.
More specifically, users searching for holidays in Greece rose 13 percent in 2016 compared to the previous year, with Rhodes, Santorini and Mykonos at the top of the list.
The majority of people visiting Greece are couples and families while the number of business travellers remains low, she said.
TripAdvisor has 39 million unique visitors every month and 6.8 million businesses listed; 435 million reviews and opinions and it covers over 135,000 destinations. The company has recently expanded its activities offering information on restaurants and entertainment.
Rufo stressed that 55 percent of searches are made in mobiles while a 72 percent of users search for restaurants and 65 percent search for activities. The head of display sales also stressed the importance of the Russian market as Russian tourists stay in average two weeks.
