Greek authorities returned 55 migrants from Lesvos to Dikili in Turkey

Greek authorities on Thursday returned 55 migrants from the Aegean island of Lesvos to Dikili in Turkey, with the assistance of the EU border agency Frontex, in accordance with the EU-Turkey agreement.

The 55, who had all waived their right to asylum and had been trapped on northern Aegean islands, included 12 women and four children.

They included 28 Afghans, two Sri Lankans, 11 Algerians, four Moroccans, three Iraqis, six Pakistanis and one Palestinian. Returned with the 55 were three Turkish nationals that had served prison sentences in Chios prison.
