Bank of Greece: Greek banks lowered borrowing from Eurosystem in April

Greek banks slightly lowered their dependence on the Eurosystem in April to 59.1 billion euros from 59.7 billion in March, the Bank of Greece said in a report.

The central bank said Greek banks reduced their borrowing both from the European Central Bank’s direct funding operations and from the ELA mechanism. Borrowing from ECB fell to 17 billion euros in April, from 17.1 billion in March, while borrowing from ELA eased to 42.1 billion euros in April from 42.7 billion in the previous month.
