Greek cash budget showed primary deficit of 1.45 billion euros in Jan-May, BoG report says

Greek state budget showed a primary deficit of 1.45 billion euros on a cash basis in the January-May period, from a primary surplus of 6.4 billion euros in the same period last year, the Bank of Greece said on Thursdsay.

The central bank, in a report, said that the central government’s cash result showed a deficit of 2.069 billion euros in the five-month period, from a shortfall of 1.645 billion in the corresponding period last year. During this period, regular budget revenue amounted to 17.749 billion euros from 17.707 billion last year, while regular budget spending rose to 21.457 billion euros from 19.515 billion, over the two periods, respectively.
